First held in 2007, the World Whiskies Awards are Whisky Magazine's product awards, searching for the very best whiskies in the world.
This year's competition saw more than 300 whiskies put through their paces during three rounds of rigorous tastings to win the coveted titles of the 'World's Best'
Icons of Whisky
The Icons are designed to celebrate the people and places behind the great whiskies of the world, with the World Whiskies Awards taking care of the liquid later in the year.
We asked the industry to nominate themselves in the various categories, then based on the evidence an independent editorial panel drew up a shortlist from which the winners were picked.
The Hall of Fame has evolved from the Icons of Whisky Lifetime Achievement award and all those who have been given a Lifetime award will be elevated to the Hall of Fame.
Inductees 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 announced on the 22nd March 2013.
Independent Bottlers Challenge
The Independent Bottlers' Challenge tastes the very best whiskies produced by independent bottlers, a select band of private whisky businesses that select and bottle some of the most diverse whiskies available. With six regional categories, and three age ranges, the Challenge concentrates on the exceptional single malts offered by the independent bottling sector.

Whether it is in a hotel, restaurant or a traditional bar, what gives it that buzz, ambience and pulling power? The World Whiskies Design Awards are the new annual awards recognising excellence in pack design and innovation. Judged by an international panel of design experts, winners were announced in London on Friday 22nd March 2013.
