Icons of Whisky India 2012

Icons of Whisky India 2012, will be presented on Feb 3rd 2012 at The Leela Kempinski Hotel, Gurgaon, India. These will be the 5 th edition of the awards, which were first introduced to India in 2008.

The Icons of Whisky India reward the best whisky bars in India from amongst , whisky bars, whisky restaurants, and whisky hotels in India. Besides these hospitality awards, Icons of Whisky are also presented for Whisky Distiller of the Year , Whisky Innovator of the Year and Whisky Personality of the Year . In 2012, awards are also being given to Whisky Chef of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Icons of Whisky have established premier standards throughout the world, identifying and appreciating quality across the global industry and communicating its views to the consumers in a clear and constructive way.

The Icons of Whisky India, introduced in 2008, are organised by Whisky Magazine, the world’s best read magazine on the subject, now published in French, Greek, Japanese, Mandarin & Spanish. Launched in 1998, Whisky Magazine has been celebrating the whiskies of the world consistently and now seeks to present the highest accolade for whisky, the Icons of Whisky, in every leading whisky nation of the world. Spiritual Luxury Living Pvt. Ltd exclusively represents the Icons of Whisky in India.

In 2012, the Icons of Whisky have been re-positioned to build a higher aspiration level and challenge. Thus ensuring that only the best bars that truly believe in guest experience, understanding whisky and have a cutting edge on hospitality claim the honour. Only the best bars across India, will be given the certification across each category, thus making the Icons of Whisky India one of the finest and most formidable awards, in the food & beverage industry. Only the very best will get the top honour of being the Best Whisky Bar / Restaurant / Hotel in India and the Highly Commended Whisky Bar / Restaurant / Hotel in India.

The selection criteria have been further improvised. From 2012 onwards, there will be a 3 way process:

Invitation - Entries will be invited by us, on the IOW form & shortlisted by teams in UK & India.
Web Cast - All 2012 entries will be offered for polling online, where guests can log in & select their favourite whisky bars.
Market Research - An in-house team, with external experts will conduct a pan India MR, wherein industry, companies, brands, customers, media & outlets themselves will be interviewed.

Based on the aforementioned, we shall select the best bars & they will be presented on Feb 3rd 2012 at The Leela Kempinski Hotel, Gurgaon, India , which will precede Whisky Luxe. Whisky Distiller of the Year , Whisky Innovator of the Year , Whisky Personality of the Year , Whisky Chef of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award will also be presented at the Icons of Whisky India reception.

There will not be any application fees in 2012, thus ensuring that a larger number of outlets will apply.
