Incredibly “alive” for a 43 Years Old whisky. Absolutely wonderful. Fully matured or just finished in a cognac cask ? Whatever, it worked superbly.

You'd never guess this was 35. Great life, balance and bags of character. A beauty.
Glengoyne 2000 AD
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00%
9
Delicious example of maltiness in a whisky. I always enjoy Glengoynes very much, but they invariably leave me wanting a little more.
Aberlour 15 Years Old, Sherry Wood

Complex and sophisticated.
Aberlour a'bunadh

A dark, luxurious, post-prandial whisky from a distillery that is producing an increasing, and impressive range.
Aberlour a'bunadh
Single Malt - Scotland - 59.60%
8
Darker, drier and more spicily assertive than the earlier version, despite only a slight difference in ages.
Adelphi Dailuaine 21 Years Old, Cask 4150
Single Malt - Scotland - 56.10%
8
The confident virtues of a good Speyside whisky: malt, heather and peat. Well-combined but without either refinements or flourishes.
Adelphi Glen Grant 1969
Single Malt - Scotland - 52.90%
8
Holds up very well in the middle but the woodiness at the end is overpowering.
Alberta Premium Canadian Rye 25 Years Old
Rye - Canada - 40.00%
8
Aha! it's Canadian. That explains its amenable nature. A different style.
AnCnoc 16 Years Old

Takes water nicely. A real fun summery mouthful.Session dram.
Ardbeg 17 Years Old

Not the most muscular Ardbeg, but still robust.
Ardbeg 1976, Distillery Manager's Choice

Real Ardbeg peatiness and smokiness.
Ardbeg 1976, Single Cask Committee bottling

A 'no bones about it' Islay whisky, and a fine example of Ardbeg.

Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8
A welcome addition to the range.
Ardbeg Alligator
Single Malt - Scotland - 51.20%
8
A big islander, well structured and well balanced. Just a dash of water is
enough to enhance the flavours.
Ardbeg Almost There
Single Malt - Scotland - 54.00%
8
This is seamless stuff and despite the smokiness is unshowy. Only 9 Years Old? Great things are on their way.
Ardbeg Lord of the Isles, 25 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8
Lots of flavour development, complexity and refinement. Very elegant, but where is the clamour of battle?
Ardbeg Lord of the Isles, 25 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%

Becomes more complex with age. I admire its style, but hanker for the bravado of the younger Ardbegs.
Ardbeg Oloroso Finish, Cask 4704
Single Malt - Scotland - 47.20%
8
Nothing too elaborate here. Good honest Islay whisky. Have this with breakfast and you will live forever, or feel that way.
Ardbeg Rennaissance
Single Malt - Scotland - 55.90%
8
Everything here has been reduced to elemental levels.
A nice circle completed.
Auchentoshan 10 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 40.00%
8
Very expressive when young – as might be expected from a classic Lowlander.
Auchentoshan 17 Years Old, Bordeaux Wine
Single Malt - Scotland - 51.00%
8
The wine finish brings in sweetness and fruitiness but without masking the delicate grassiness and lightness of the Lowland style. A real cracker, perfect for a wake up call.
Auchentoshan 1978, 18 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 58.80%

This seems to me the definitive light tasting (triple-distilled) Lowlander. In theory, such whiskies mature young, but this has aged beautifully.
