Kentucky, Louisville, Benromach
Balblair 1986
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8 Elegant and sophisticated.
Balblair 1969 Vintage
Single Malt - Scotland - 45.00%
8 For a whisky that is very light when young, this matures surprisingly well and for long periods
Balblair 1975 Vintage 2nd Release 37 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8 A beautiful example of a well-matured Bourbon cask whisky. Still lively and
dashing. The perfect “herbal tea”.
Balblair 1979 Vintage
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00%
8 Needs time to grow in the glass. A dream.
Ballantine's Limited
Blended - Scotland - 43.00%
8 Much more sherryish than the colour suggests. Sweet. Sponge fingers. I wouldn't have recognised it as a Ballantine's.
BenRiach Authenticus 25 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8 A long, complex and harmonious run of flavour. Excellent.
Benromach 10 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00%
8 A well-structured dram with character and delicacy. Very refreshing. A perfect Speysider to recommend.
Benromach Origins Batch 2 Port Pipes 12 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 50.00%
8 Wholly matured in port pipes. Shows great balance and style for a 12 Years
Old and is marked accordingly.
Berry's Best Orkney, 14 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00%
8 Intense salt. Very slight iodine.
Berry's Own Selection Bowmore 1996
- Scotland - 46.00%
8 Judging by the colour (pale chardonnay),has obviously not gained from the cask. Has got all the phenolic spectrum but not much more, especially on the nose.
Berry's Own Selection Dailuaine 1985
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8 A good example of a little seen distillery.
Berry's Own Selection Girvan 1989
Single Grain - Scotland - 46.00%
8 An excellent refreshing dram. Well balanced, rich and light at the same time. Very enjoyable with chilled water.
Berry's Own Selection Glen Elgin 1975
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8 By today's standards, an unusually peaty Speysider.
Berry's Own Selection Glen Grant, 37 Years Old, 1972
Single Malt - Scotland - 51.80%
8 A dry character. Quite strictly framed by oak but releasing an interesting and complex spicy character.
Berry's Own Selection Glenlivet 1972
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8 Lots of flavour but restrained and well balanced. Very confident. If there is a Speyside style, surely this is it.
Berry's Own Selection Inchgower 1974
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8 A great wee aperitif. Fresh and fun.
Berry's Own Selection Inchgower 1980
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8 A big powerful bruiser.
Berry's Own Selection Invergordon 38 Years Old 1971
Single Grain - Scotland - 48.00%
8 The balance between sweet and sour is perfect. A grain whisky? I would have thought of an old bourbon.
Berry's Own Selection Lochside 1991
Single Malt - Scotland - 40.00%
8 Well balanced, fresh and pleasant. The finish lacks some depth maybe. But that does not take the pleasure away.
Berry's Own Selection Longmorn 1990
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
7 A perfectly pretty dram but it is almost too light. Even delicate whiskies need backbone.
Berry's Own Selection Port Ellen
- Scotland - 46.00%
8 This is top notch stuff. One of the best Port Ellen's for some while. Snap it up.
Big Peat
Blended Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8 The smoke is omnipresent. A thick curtain which unveils luscious malty notes though. Islay on the nose and on the tongue.
Black Bottle 10 Years Old
Blended - Scotland - 40.00%
9 A delicious, appetising, new expression of Black Bottle. As a blend, it is a star.
