Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00% 8 As a relatively restrained whisky, Glenkinchie stands up well to the amontillado finish.

Single Malt - Scotland - 53.32% 8 Lots of flavour development. I enjoyed this one.
Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Bourbon - U.S.A. - 45.20% 8 Perhaps encouraged by the dark orange colour, the descriptors sound sweet, but the overall effect is one of flowery dryness, with great finesse.

- Scotland - 40.00% 5 Substantially darker, bigger, fruitier, drier, firmer, more structured and less syrupy than the Drambuie without the ribbon.
Rare Malts Dufftown-Glenlivet 1975, 21 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 54.80% 8 Pale in colour but by no means anaemic in flavour. Has matured a lot since it was 15.
Glenmorangie 12 Years Old, Millennium Malt
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00% 8 Very evident first-fill Bourbon character.
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00% 8 Made when the distillery had its own maltings, and an eloquent advocate for such an arrangement.
Glenmorangie Cognac Matured
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00% 7 Crisp, but not as characterful as might be hoped.
Glenmorangie 12 Years Old, Millennium Malt
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00% 8 The earlier, and less expensive, of two millennium bottlings. In this one, the emphasis is on first-fill bourbon barrels.

Blended - Scotland - 40.00% 6 The flavours are tightly combined. I imagine exploring them late at night in a vaguely disreputable bar in the tropics. Perhaps it's the name.
Johnnie Walker Red Label
Blended - Scotland - 40.00% 7 Full of youthful daring, but with enough stamina to last all night (this means that you and your buddy will probably drink the whole bottle).
Dewar's White Label
Blended - Scotland - 40.00% 6 Decisive, cleansing and refreshing. A civilised apéritif before oysters Rockefeller and a New York strip steak.
Cadenhead's Bourbon 5 Years Old
Bourbon - U.S.A. - 63.00% 6 Just too woody for me, though a good splash of water brings out the other flavours.
Hancock's President's Reserve
Bourbon - U.S.A. - 44.45% 8 Liked that spicy-lemon rye character, but lacking in complexity and roundness.
Jack Daniel's Gentleman Jack
Tennessee - U.S.A. - 40.00% 7 A slightly richer and more restrained interpretation of Jack Daniel's.
Loch Lomond Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Single Malt - Scotland - 40.00% 7 Very sweet. Definitely a dessert whisky.
