Benrinnes 23 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 58.80%
7 You have got to like woody whiskies to drink this one. Has gone over the top for me. Certainly an old whisky but too long a maturation made it grumpy. Water kills it.
Berry's Own Selection Benrinnes 1989
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
7 Bizarrely, the nose reminded me of an Argentinian Torrontes. Where's the famed Benrinnes meatiness?
Chieftain's Choice Benrinnes 10 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00%
7 For me this has been bottled too early and before the sulphuriness of youth has been fully matured out.
Dewar Rattray Benrinnes 14 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 59.30%
7 Nose and palate are a bit agressive with a lingering sourness which is disturbing. A prickly character. Water smooths the flavours over but this is not enough.
Douglas Laing Benrinnes 1990 14 Years Old, Single Cask Sherry Finish
Single Malt - Scotland - 50.00%
7 Beautifully full flavoured whisky. Manages to be both elegant and robustly expressive. Very appetising.
Harris Whisky Benrinnes 13 Years Old, Cask 7014
Single Malt - Scotland - 55.90%
7 This youngster has some hidden depths. Promising.
Rare Malts Benrinnes 21 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 60.40%
7 One of Speyside's secret delights. But a hard whisky to know. Big flavours, but tightly combined and unyielding.
Wemyss Vintage Malts Ginger Compote, 1996 15 Years Old
Blended - Scotland - 43.00%
7 Great balance - true to its distillery character but a slightly softer edge
than usual.
