WM Issue 78 is out now.

Postby les taylor » Mon Mar 02, 2009 1:22 pm

Dave has been. Issue 78 has just hit the mat. I was hoping for a cheeky free one as well at WL as in the past. But I'm glad it's arrived nevertheless. :)

Dave and Nick said to me, "We haven't brought you a magazine. You should have renewed your sub when the reminder came instead of leaving it until yesterday. Now you'll have to wait a week for your issue." :headbang:

Good work Rob you know you don't want to miss a single issue. 2009 icons of whisky are revealed and also a nice interview Between Dave Broom and Dr Bill Lumsden.

Mine came yesterday too. I notice the biggest difference of opinion I have ever seen over a dram in the tasting notes. John McDougall's Selection 18yo gets 8.8 from Martine and 5 from Dave. It would be nice to see a third opinion on that one.

I got one Les :P

There were loads of them strewn around the Whisky Lounge.

You obviously spent way more time drinking than listening to the Jazz

Thank god for Dave

Fair play in all fairness you did not miss much just some peace and quite ..... the door was just beside the ben Nevis stand at the main entrance.

The lads I was with were mad to try a few cocktails in there. I refused and even when I tried a sip of theirs was glad I didn't :yuk: ... I'm really not a cocktail person at all.

I don't care and I'm not listening to you anymore. I think Postman Pat is always bringing mine via sea mail!

I still have the lovely young blonde on the cover of the last issue standing up on my bar. Too bad I can't toast the magazine for such an excellent cover subject selection.

March 26:
Issue 78 June 2009 arrived in the mailbox. 24 days after Les' issue hit the mat. That's much better than the initial 6 week delay we were experiencing.

Something to read in the tub this evening with a dram...oh.. er... damn.. it's still LENT. I really looking forward to "Good Friday" - it will be a great Friday if I have anything to say about it!

Now to the weather report thread...

Mine arrived a few days ago. Today I got my second renewal notice, despite the fact that my sub goes to Sep 09. The letter says they need to know how many copies to send to North America, 'cuz it takes a long time to get here. No $#!&!!!! Apparently, it's not just the four-to-six week lag, but the six months prior, too. When they stop making Dave, Nick, and Postman Pat swim across the damn ocean with 'em, I'll re-up in a timely fashion. In the meantime, they can sweat.

(At least #78 has a picture of whisky on the cover, instead of some naked tart. The Housekeeper saw that one the other day and asked, "What does this have to do with whisky?" "Damned if I know," I answered.)

Just reread some of the articles and felt compelled to comment about Heather Greene's (in Heather's blooming success) statement that adding ice to whisky (or whiskey) is "an accepted American way of drinking" said liquid. Speaking as an American, just because it's accepted does not mean it is right.
