Any word on when #52 will be out?

My copy arrived today and congratulations to one Andrew Derbridge of Australia for the winning letter and a bottle of whisky.

Anybody know who this chap is?? :wink:

I understand there's no second " r " in it.

Yes, well that the way they spelt it in the magazine.....but now that I see it spelt without the second 'r' it does ring a bell, hmmmm.

Hmmm. My issue still hasn't arrived. I'm assuming Christmas post may have something to do with this.

Mind you, the web site is still only showing issue 51.

I'll give it a day or so. If it hasn't arrived by Wednesday's post then I'll give them a call. I'm wondering if there's just a little delay with it being my first subscribed issue.

I phoned the subscription number and found there had been a problem with my credit card details. Probably mistyped them slightly.

Some sort of, oh, I dunno, contact to tell me this would have been nice...grrrr....

My copy of #52 arrived 3 days ago and fool that I am, I assumed since #51 was still on the website, I was a winner. Obviously, the west coast of the USA will always be the last to receive this wonderful magazine, especially if one is tucked into the county just north of the Golden Gate Bridge where banana slugs threaten any life forms attempting to enter.
Loved the article on Tullamore Dew. It was my first favorite Irish and I still enjoy my dew.
On an editorial note, too many typos in the mag. :oops:

Perhaps the webmaster fell asleep at the switch and forgot to change the issue. It happens.

The USA copies are always sometime behind Europe and UK, did you order a Express Delivery or standard subscription?

On an editorial note, too many typos in the mag.

At the risk of sounding negative towards a magazine that has looked after me well, I must say, I'm a bit surprised and disappointed at the large number of typos as well.

Perhaps the poof reader had one dram to many?

Arrived at last! Cheers to Mr Derbidge for his eloquent letter. And sneers to the rep from the SWA, still deep in denial, whose letter appears below Mr D's. I find it ironic that he cites John Glaser in his justification for the new terminology. The Compass Box labels use the old terminology, and are models of clarity.

Well, my issue arrived a couple of days ago, in pristine condition despite Canada Post, however I still haven't seen Issue 51 yet. I've contacted Whisky magazine and am confident that they'll be able to help. The cover subject on issue 52 is prettier than that shown on the website of cover 51, I must say (with apologies to Winston S.).

I suspect that the Christmas rush may have caused it's delay. Sad to think that as stamp price goes up the service goes down, eh?

Speaking of cover subjects, I think I'd rather see more strictly whisky-oriented subjects than celebrities and such--the one good thing about the Madonna cover was that it looked like she'd broken her neck--but I guess I can understand that the folks in charge think that such will grab eyes on the newsstand. Kind of rubs me the wrong way, though.

(Okay, I wish Madonna no ill...after all, her favorite beer is Timothy Taylor's Landlord, so she can't be all bad.)

FYI - #52 has still not arrived in North Vancouver, B.C. yet (there is only one newsagent in the entire combined North & West Vancouver areas - pop. 200,000+) - and I used to see it reach there quicker (and cheaper) than my now-lapsed subscription...

Fingers crossed for next Tuesday's shipment.
