Idea for the forums

Postby Jan » Fri Apr 07, 2006 9:52 pm

Hi Matt

How about adding a local time function ?

It could be added to the profiles or something and in realtime show local time for a member, based on the location input from the member.

Cheers

That'd be quite good yes. I for a brief second wondered what on earth you were doing having several drams at 9:00AM when I realised it was my local time on the forums.

Oh? When? (kidding)

That sounds like a reasonable idea, although I just do the math in my head to figure out what time the person is posting in. We Canadians have the inside track, one of us (Sir Sanford Fleming) having "invented" the time zone concept for the entire world in 1876. * Musky P.
*(Yes Mr. Picky I know Charles Dowd proposed 1 hour time zones for american railways in 1863 but didn't publish it.)

Time change

Postby Muskrat Portage » Sat Apr 08, 2006 10:03 pm

Hey Matt: The time change happened last weekend, when will the forum catch up? Right now I'm only 5 hours away from Greenwich which makes my posting position somewhere near Labrador. :D Musky P.

Sir Sanford was a Scot, of course. And while he wasn't the first person to think of standard time, he is the one who pushed the idea and got it done.
