Issue #56 is out!

Postby jimidrammer » Thu Jun 15, 2006 4:26 pm

I got mine yesterday, the 14th. I haven't read through it all, but there is a Tasting Note on the new 1991 Glenrothes that is quite favorable. Now the Whiskymag homepage is really outdated.

Mark, such a prominent presence in two consecutive issues  I guess we shouldn't look to you to mend some fences and build a more centrist and bipartisan platform

If the guy who wrote that is reading this...I hope he understands the concept of satire. That's what I had in mind when I wrote that...and hope that others took it with a sense of humor...

Well, I laughed when I read your original letter. I'm sure the editors of Whisky Mag did as well, thus their selection of it for print. A little levity is always welcome and perhaps those that didn't initially pick up on the satire will see it now.

Cheers,

Glad it's outdated with the issue with "Great Whisky Bars of the World!" Makes for an easy reference and hopefully when they do update the page, they'll have a link to easily find listed the "Great Whisky Bars of the World" so that we can easily refer to it.

My girlfriend bought me #56 as a gift today.

She had intended to buy me a Balvenie DW, which is on sale at a supermarket chain - but it was sold out.

Talk about bittersweet...

Oh well, happy to have the mag, which is always good fun, even if I'm not much into cocktails. I'll see if I can strech it to last the weekend. (Yeah, as if  )

Cheers

Arrived north of the 49th

Postby Muskrat Portage » Thu Jun 29, 2006 12:41 am

Issue 56 arrived at lunchtime, just after I got home from my golfing. Mark, if you imagine "smilies" in the Colorado letter it's pretty droll as well.
So, my next query who has received 57? Musky Pete

The cover of 56 irritates me greatly, primarily the absolutely filthy glass that is being used.

I noticed that all right... it's also a glass you'd expect aload of ice in

Do you see the size of the dram? It's huge, good for her.

Anyone else in the US who hasn't received #56? I finally bought one on the newsstand. Guess I'd better check with the subs department.

I buy mine at the newsstand every issue. It actually saves me money that way since I have a member discount at the bookstore.
