Ardbeg/Glenmorangie tasting Monday April 27th Phoenix AZ

There will be a Ardbeg and Glenmorangie tasting Monday April 27th at Sportmans at Arrowhead in AZ. I believe it will be from 6-8pm but that hasn't been confirmed yet. I heard that they will be tasting Glenmorangie Signet and Astar, plus Ardbeg 10, Uigedail and Nam Beist, as well as others to be confirmed. I will list the full tasting when it is posted.

There is going to be seven whiskies

Ardbeg 10
Ardbeg uigeadail
Ardbeg nam beist
Glenmo 10
Glenmo quintan ruban
Glemo astar
Glenmo signet

Ganga, my guess is that it will be the "old ten" (AZ is the backwoods ofr whisky after all) but I will swing by there later this week to ask and then let you know.

Here are my thoughts from the tasting.

Glenmo 10: Nice citrus and vanilla. Nice bang for the buck.
Quinta Ruban: Nice whisky, really enjoy how the port intereacts with the glenmo.
Astar: A nice whisky with loads of vanilla custard.
Signet: A nice whisky but way overpriced.
Ardbeg 10 (L6 271): A great Ardbeg with loads of iodine and peat.
Ardbeg Uigeadail: Nice whisky and I like the mix of sherry and peat.
Ardbeg Beastie: A nice whisky but way overpriced here with a normal price of about $140 though on special tonight for about $120 (still overpriced). A much more complex Ardbeg but for me a step down from the 10 and the Uigeadail.

A nice tasting and it was really nice to meet Jeff (jhershauer).

Thanks Sean. It was great to meet you in person. I agree with you on the value/price mismatch on the Signet and Nam Beist. I really enjoyed both of them, though.

Oh yeah...one other interesting thing from the tasting was the cocktail they served at the beginning. I've stayed away from cocktails since I got into drinking whisky, but I really enjoyed this one:

The Smoky Peach
- 2 parts vanilla cognac (they used Navan)
- 1 part Ardbeg 10
- dash of peach bitters
- served on the rocks
