See you there.

Booked my tastings in December.

Logged on at 9pm and discovered that I missed the Friday morning bus tour, which has sold out. :x

Hi jmrl,

I was at the mating of the museum last year September and it was excellent! Great atmosphere with people from all over the world, most of them coming back every year so you better book in time.

It's an event that takes place during the Whisky festivals taking place in Dufftown in Spring and Autum. See below some more info:

"The Spring Mating is an opportunity for Mates of the Museum to get together and enjoy a few canapes and a dram or 2 as a prelude to the Whisky Festival. This event is free to all Mates and if you would like to join the Mates of the Whisky Museum please book a place for the event and the organisers will get in touch. The annual membership is £10.00.
For potential new Mates, The Whisky Museum was the focal point for events during the Whisky Festival. The Museum project was the brainchild of Dufftown 2000. The project was launched back in 1999 and a small but successful Whisky Museum was opened in 2003. Many of the exhibits are from the Dufftown Distilleries together with some illicit stills on loan from Customs and Excise. The lease ran out and Dufftown 2000 were not able to renew the lease. The good news is that we have identified new premises in Dufftown and the team are working hard to secure a New Museum before the Whisky Festival.

All funds raised by the Mates goes towards the fighting fund to buy suitable new premises for the Whisky Museum."

You can book the event online at:
http://www.spiritofspeyside.com/event_d ... ?event=666

You can find out more about the Autumn festival and of the mates here: http://www.dufftown.co.uk/

Hope this helps!

What's this Rene ?
Some decent whisky in Dufftown at last.......
Masterclass: Martin Grant of LVMH
In this tasting we cover two of the most iconic distilleries in the world of whisky, Glenmorangie and Ardbeg, in one tasting!

In this masterclass Martin Grant from the Louis Vitton Moet Hennessy Group will take your through a selection of whiskies from both distilleries, Glenmorangie and Ardbeg. This is a tasting definitely not to be missed.

lol, Isn't that great! Whiskies from different area's working together.

At the festival there are always some tastings that include whiskies from other area's, it's all about Malt Whisky.

Hope to see you there?

Hey Bruce, you got a special tour at Glenmo, or just going to the standard tours offered every hour or so?

Was lucky enough to catch the last spot at Mortlach this year!

It seems strange because I would have thought that would be an easy one to organise. It certainly was good fun last year.

Wish I was coming to SoS. :(

I was thinking of the SoS but you're not going to be there. I've got Chris Brousea's Whisky game, he now runs a B&B in Dufftown

Mike Lord of The Whisky Shop Dufftown says:

Sorry there is no whisky quiz this year. I usually run them in the Autumn festival. I have been toying with the idea of doing one on the Saturday evening though. But I also wanted some time off. The Saturday evening quiz would be in the same format as last time but shorter!

I have also been contemplating a whisky treasure hunt and quiz. This would run all weekend and you could come in and do it at any time. There will be three aspects to the quiz (1) Whisky related questions and probably the usual random general knowledge round (2) a treasure hunt where you will have to explore Dufftown to find the answers to the questions (3) name those whiskies in a blind nosing. You will be timed and your score will be based around the number of questions you get right less time penalties depending on how long you take. Teams of any size. This would be so people could fit it in around all the other things they are doing during the festival. We could get a "professional team" to set the pace (Mark Watt, Susan Colville, Alex Bruce, Mark Davidson, Jane Beckers).

Any interest?

Thanks

Mike
