Maltstock returns

Fellow whisky enthusiasts,

The time to gather once again has come! Because everybody had such a great time at the very first edition, Maltstock shall return. When? 3-5 September 2010. Where? Same venue as last year: "Het Buitencentrum" in Overasselt, the Netherlands.

Maltstock 2009

In September 2009 we organised the very first edition of Maltstock. The people enjoyed the unique setting and it was a very relaxed weekend. It was totally different from all the whisky festivals.
At our website http://www.maltstock.com you can see pictures of the 2009 event to get an idea of what Maltstock is all about: a very relaxed weekend sharing and enjoying whisky in good company. Also you can read some reviews and comments of people who attended in 2009. One of them was Jim McEwan of Bruichladdich distillery. This is what he had to say about Maltstock:

"I think its a totally unique event there is nothing like it in the world ,its inexpensive, the venue is perfect ,the people who attend are really into malts and they were happy to share their whisky and their stories with complete strangers and when the time came to say goodbye there were no strangers only friends and they will remain that way for a long time.
This is when the Magic of Malt comes alive when its shared willing with people who share the same passion and this event provide the perfect stage for it all to come alive.
Slainte Jim. "

Maltstock 2010

We've had so many positive feedback and had a great time ourselves. It truly is an unique weekend. So: Maltstock will be back this year! From 3 to 5 September whisky clubs and enthusiasts from different countries will gather again. Book your tickets now to avoid disappointment All info is at http://www.maltstock.com

Program
At the website you see the up to date program. We hope to be able to add a few more free tastings soon. Already confirmed:
- Stuart Nickerson from Glenglassaugh distillery
- New make tasting. An unique opportunity to compare different new makes. Professor and whisky writer Ap Dijksterhuis will talk you through them. He already wrote an article on new make in the most recent issue of Whisky Passion

Many independent bottlers will be represented again, like: Adelphi, Berry Brothers, Blackadder, Cairn Mòr, Douglas Laing, Exclusive Malts and Wemyss. But also: Buichladdich, Glencadam, Single Malts of Scotland, Chieftains, Murray McDavid, Daily Dram, Dewar Rattray and Compass Box

Also not to be missed is the terrific company of Ian Gray and of course his beautiful paintings (http://www.iangray.de)

And the Dutch collectors Jeroen Koetsier and Arno Bosboom will also be back with their amazing whisky collection.
A huge success last year was the "share and enjoy" concept. We asked everybody to bring a bottle to share and enjoy with fellow whisky enthusiasts. This worked out very well. And is something that we will definitely be doing again this year.

Will there be anybody of the forum at maltstock? Would be great!
Here's the latest news:

Fellow whisky enthusiasts,

It is our great pleasure to announce that Duncan Elphick and his chef from the Highlander Inn will be coming to Maltstock to prepare a Scottish breakfast. All ingredients will be brought from Scotland so you can enjoy a real taste of Scotland at Maltstock!

The Highlander Inn
Many of you probably already know the Highlander Inn. Or perhaps have met Duncan and Tatsuya at one of the whisky fairs. Those of you who have visited the Highlander Inn know what a great little place it is. We are very proud that Duncan and his chef will travel from Craigellachie to Overasselt to prepare a great Scottish breakfast for us at Maltstock. It will be a perfect start of the day.

The Highlander Inn is a very well known and respected place in the hart of Speyside, Craigellachie. It is a place every whisky enthusiast should visit when visiting Speyside. It is perfect place to discover Speyside. There are only five bedrooms, so booking in advance is strongly recommended.
In the bar you are very likely to meet fellow whisky enthusiasts and is also popular with the locals. You won't be disappointed by the tremendous selection of whiskies. There are over 200 whiskies to choose from (amongst them some great Japanese whiskies!).
It is also possible to enjoy a meal, either in the bar or in the restaurant. From own experience I can tell you the food is also excellent, both in the bar and in their à la carte restaurant. They serve one of the best Haggis you will ever try.

More information about the Highlander Inn and for bookings please visit http://www.whiskyinn.com
Or come to Maltstock and talk to Duncan in person.

Free masterclasses at Maltstock
We know many of you are eagerly awaiting the free masterclasses at Maltstock. It will be possible to book tickets for these free tastings around mid June. We will inform you by e-mail as soon as they can be booked online. Remember, the free tastings are only for people who already have bought their Maltstock tickets. So get your Maltstock tickets now. Click here to go to the Maltstock shop.

See you in September, see you at Maltstock!

At Maltstock we will be offering several free tastings. Due to the limited availability of each tasting (max. 30 persons) is it advised to book in advance. The tastings are bookable online now at http://www.maltstock com.

We have:

New make tasting - Ap Dijksterhuis
A chance to compare about 15 different new makes. Ap Dijksterhuis wrote an article for a Dutch whisky magazine (Whisky Passion) about a new make tasting in which we compared 40 different new makes. Very interesting to do.

Four Roses - white dog and...? - Hans Offringa
This will be a very unique tasting. At Four Roses they produce ten different white dog (new make). No other distillery in the world does this. We have all ten available. And something extra (which we will announce as soon as it is confirmed). You cn take my word for it, it will be something special. Never done before in the world.
Hans Offringa is a very active whisky writer. Internationally known for (amongst others) "the Legend of Laphroaig" and "Whisky and Jazz". His new book "Bourbon and Blues" will be coming out later this year. Hans spends a lot of time in the US and knows a lot about Bourbon.

BenRiach - Stewart Buchannan
The operational manager, Stewart Buchannan, will be at Maltstock to tell you all about BenRiach. He will bring some interesting samples for you to taste. BenRiach distillery is well known for its great many and many great bottlings.

Amrut - Ashok Chokalingam

Amrut distillery from India has been a very pleasant surprise to many whisky enthusiasts over the last few years. They do know how to make quality whisky in India, which can compete with the great Scottish whiskies. Ashok Chokalingam, the European sales and marketing manager will prove it to you.

Glenglassaugh - Stuart Nickerson
Last year he had to cancel at the very last minute, but this year he will definitely be at Maltstock, the managing director of Glenglassaugh himself, Stuart Nickerson. Who better to tell you all about the resurrection of this great distillery of which we dare without blushing to speak it's name: Glenglassaugh

Tomatin - Douglas Campbell
We are honored that Douglas Campbell, the managing director of Tomatin distillery is coming over himself. He has been with Tomatin for 49 years. So no one can tell you more about Tomatin than Douglas.

Balvenie - Tony van Rooijen
Brand ambassador Tony van Rooijen will take you through the excellent range of Balvenie distillery.

Hope to see some forum members at Maltstock!

For those of you who prefer to camp close to Maltstock, instead of staying at the venue in small dorms, we now are able to offer you that possibility. Opposite of the Maltstock venue is a campsite, "Dennenbos". There's no discount for camping instead of staying at the Maltstock venue. If you would like to camp we need to know well in advance. There's a limited number of camping spots available.

When you book you Maltstock tickets, just mention in the reamrks field that you would like to camp. If you already have bought your Maltstock tickets, just send us an e-mail.

The campsite is not part of the Maltstock venue. The Maltstock venue will close it's gates between 01.00 and 09.00. There are facilities near the campsite. There will be no Maltstock crew present on the campsite.

Hope to see you all in September. If you haven't bought your Maltstock tickets yet, just go to our online webshop, register first and than get your tickets. We already have people coming from Holland, Belgium, Germany, UK, Czech republic and Slovenia. For the full program and the free tastings please check our website.

See you in September, see you at Maltstock!

Maltstock - Stuart Thomson at Maltstock & CB breakfast whisk

Postby laddie teun » Sun Jul 18, 2010 3:23 pm

Fellow whisky enthusiast,

Only 7 weeks until Maltstock! And it promises to be a great weekend again. Already we have people coming over form seven different countries. We are also very proud at the program we are able to offer this year. No less than three distillery managers will be present, as well as some other representatives and independent bottlers. There are a couple of very unique tastings. But most importantly it will be a very relaxed weekend.

Compass Box breakfast whisky
The terrific, innovating team of Compass Box is creating a breakfast whisky especially for Maltstock. This will accompany the Highlander Inn Scottish breakfast. It will be the world's first ever specially created breakfast whisky. The breakfast whisky will be produced in a very limited quantity and will only be available at Maltstock 2010. Will this be a serious cereal whisky? A bowl of fruit? Will it be as black at the pudding? The "Ben Bacon & Beans"? We will find out in September.

Stuart Thomson at Maltstock
I think most of you remember Stuart Thomson, former Ardbeg distillery manager. He has been out of the whisky scene for a while, but he is back! We are very happy and proud to announce he will be present at Maltstock!

Tickets need to bought in advance
Please note it is necessary to buy your Maltstock tickets online. There will be no tickets sales at the Maltstock gates. We need to know in advance how many people will be present. This because we have limited number of beds and diner and breakfast is included. Many of you have already bought their ticket. If you haven't done so yet, please visit our online shop and get your Maltstock tickets. After you have ordered your tickets you can also book the free tastings. Maltstock costs just 150,- euro's for the whole weekend. Including two nights accommodation, Scottish breakfast, diner, BBQ, quiz, campfire, lot's of whisky to taste with no extra charge. Full program and extra information can be found at our website http://www.maltstock.com. Or click hereto go straight to the online shop.

See you in September, see you at Maltstock!
