I thought you might be interested in the above event taking place very soon!

After our successful festivals 'bringing whisky to the people' in York, Manchester, Newcastle and Brighton, we now feel the time is right to share the 'Whisky Love' with London.

I am therefore very proud to announce...

The 1st London Whisky Lounge Festival
Saturday & Sunday 15th & 16th May 2010
The Royal Horticultural Halls, Vincent Sq., London SW1
11-3pm, 4-8pm Saturday, 12-4pm Sunday
£20 per session

As always the cost of admission gets you...

- No voucher system. That's right, you are not charged a further amount to taste drams on the day

Just to let you know that we have moved to a new home and are going for a simpler, one session event.

Masterclasses...

1.30-2.45pm
Cooley, Independent Ireland - Stephen Teeling, UK Ambassador, Cooley £8
Cooley is the only independent distiller in the whole of Ireland and therefore can and does do things quite differently to anyone else. This includes double-distilling, rather than the traditional triple, peating some of their whiskies and also experimenting with different cask types. Stephen, son of the founder and owner, speaks from experience and with a great deal of humour.

3-4.15pm
Distillers Editions - Colin Dunn, UK Malts Ambassador, Diageo£8
Colin, a long time supporter of The Whisky Lounge, has put together a tasting that is suitable for both novice and enthusiast. He will be taking you through a tasting of the 'Distillers Editions' of the Classic Malts, which include Lagavulin, Caol Ila, Cragganmore and Talsiker. Highly entertaining in style, Colin is a great source of knowledge and passion.

4.30-5.45pm
The 'Ultimalt' Tasting - Eddie Ludlow, Founder, The Whisky Lounge£35
Eddie will take you on a journey through six of his favourite whiskies of all time. Definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity to taste some of the finest whiskies that money can buy - along with one or two it can't! This session will be one to tell your grandchildren about in years to come! We're talking older Ardbeg, Brora, Macallan, etc...

Tim Hain and Jamside Up (http://www.timhain.com)
One of London's best-loved blues/reggae artists plays us out with a lilting and groovesome set.

Hi everyone. An ever rarer post from yours truly. Nothing personal. Just too many songs to write and record, gigs to pursue, nappies to change, sleep to catch up on...

BUT you will notice that, thanks initially to the enthusiasm and promotion on my behalf of the hugely entertaining and knowledgable Colin Dunn, Diageo's ambassador and purveyor of fine malts, yours truly will be singing you home at the end of the "Ist London whisky Lounge Festival"!

Yes, that's me folks, "Tim Hain and Jamside Up."

So no excuses! I want to see y'all doing your best skank(those of you who can still stand) or your best drammed lurch when we play!

Dammit, I shall be there all day but since I'll be entertaining you my intake of the amber nectar will be severely curtailed!!

Dear Eddie,

Thanks for the exceptional day yesterday at the Whisky lounge - London Festival. I felt that the venue was very good, and though it was a bit busy around the tables at times, the atmostphere was excellent and the hosting by all absolutely brilliant.

I took a colleague who also had a great time at his first event and we both thoroughly enjoyed Colin Dunn's masterclass - especially when he got the bottle of Pedro Jimenez out to show us what it was that sometimes affects the wood.

My colleague had to go to bed as soon as he got home and his wife was not too impressed with me!

I'm sorry we good not stay for Reggaeblues late set but I really loved his opening set and it was good to meet him at the tasting.

Hopefully we'll be playing some more of these. Eddie who put it on is a lovely guy and there was definitely a "generous " vibe in the air.

Eddie's not a bad picker himself you know!(Guitar strings as well as class whiskies!)

I couldn;t drink(much) as I had to drive straight to another gig...but I went home with a brace of samples in little bottles to be enjoyed later!

Dear Colin Dunn got his hands on my non-believer harmonica player and converted him on the spot!

Two drams. That's all it took - Dalwhinnie Oloroso followed by Lagavulin DE.

Poor bugger didn't stand a chance...
