Balblair has a new Visitor Centre

I heard today that Balblair has opened a new visitor centre. I hope to go and visit it in the next couple of weeks.

Well I finally got to the visitor centre yesterday. Balblair is a nice distillery tucked a couple of miles off the main A9 road at Edderton. Its not well signposted yet and I was told its only open on Monday/Wednesday/Friday at the moment . Its only about 3 miles from Glenmorangie.

I tasted and bought a single cask 20YO at 60% for £85 which I reckon is pretty good value.

That makes the 5 distilleries with visitor centres that are just off the A9 and reasonably close to Inverness - Tomatin, Glen Ord, Dalmore, Glenmorangie and Balblair. I think the Balblair Visitor Centre will become really popular. Hopefully the people who own Brackla and Teaninich will now realise that they are now missing out on an opportunity and open visitor centres too!!

Balblair could become popular if they have improved the signage telling folk how to get there.

I wouldn't hold your breath on Teaninich opening a visitor centre though.

John MacDonald the distillery manager (a good guy) said he hoped new signs were going to be put up in about 6 weeks time.

Why do you think that about Teaninich? (I know its owned by Diageo and the majority of the whisky goes for blending.)
