Are you going to Firenza? "David" is spectacular at the Academicia if you have the chance, well worth the entry fee. (Note:I struggled three years in Art school). Musky Pete

Yep - WestVanDave will meet FirenzeDave... we've already booked both the Academicia and the Uffizi... in fact one particular individual in our group has assembled a 26 page itinerary... I'm just showing up and following instructions.

Long story short - we are travelling with 2 other couples - repeating a similar trip we did 12 years ago - and this time for the primary purpose of a wedding. Our perpetually-engaged friends needed a big enough reason to get married - and this trip is it...

We're doing 4 nights in Venice, 2 in Florence - then we've rented a villa in Lucignano (south of Florence) for a couple of weeks and a wedding... then 2 nights in Rome before returning home and leaving the newlyweds to honeymoon on their own...

Ciao...

Italy sojourn

Postby Muskrat Portage » Sat Apr 29, 2006 7:39 am

Venice: Piazzo San Marco. drinks, two bands playing, possibly a gondola ride under the stars. David in Firenza and a couple of weeks in a villa near Lucignano. You lucky, lucky man. I loved wandering the Forum in Roma, which even has an elevator. Enjoy.

I know that I'll be part of the fervent yet fetid flotilla from afar crossing the pond for this fantastic festival...wouldn't miss it...

Hi Lawrence, Dave and Badmonkey:
I am trying to work out some details, but the Victoria Whisky Festival would be tremendous fun, learning experience, as well as, a GREAT reunion. For those who are thinking about it...I would strongly recommend a January Whisky-filled weekend in beautiful Victoria!!

Cheers,

Yeah, but spending about $2000 on whisky this year did it for me...

Come visit us Mark, a cheap flight to Seattle and then a quick hop over on the fast ferry and you're here. The Hotel is about a 100 yards from the clipper dock. The hotel has low rates for Festival attendees.......

I'll set you up with to attend all the events you can handle,

Mark, I don't know if I'm going or not, but if I do, I'll need a roommate--Ron's bringing his girlfriend (in total betrayal of all principles of the South Amherst He-Man Women Hater's Club).

Maybe you two need to start your own thread..............mean while ticket sales storm on with all the Richard Paterson and Masterclass tickets are sold. There remains a good supply of Consumer Tasting but I don't expect them to last beyond next Sunday, the 12th of November.

In Victoria that could possibly mean the opposite side of the street...sorry couldn't resist a small pond joke.

Seriously Folks...Lawrence, you and your team must feel incredibly pleased with the response that you have received. It is absolutely awesome to be teetering on a "sold out" Whisky event. Well done, indeed.

Best regards,
Wendy

I went for the first time this past January and I am definitely going back again. The event was very well organized and very well attended (sold out I think). The master classes were a lot of fun and educational as well. The Saturday evening event - well, that continued on well after 11pm!

It will well be worth your time to attend - if not to put a face to a name :)

Cheers!
