Since tasting the Hankey Bannister 40yo blend a couple of years ago at Royal Mile Whiskies' Whisky Fringe I've wanted to pour it at a tasting. Not cheap though. So as it is the last tasting of the year and Christmas to boot I'm finally going for it, actually I simply enquired at the wholesaler for availability and price and when the bottle actually turned up I thought I'd go with the karma.
I've had to be a bit cautious with the other drams to try and keep the ticket price from crazy but still pour good drams, so :-
Hankey Bannister 40yo 47.3% 1917 bottles - voted whisky of the year twice - can't remember the competition though
Ardmore 16yo 1997 - 2013 55.2% Bourbon hogsheads 552 bottles Cadenheads - although this might not be peaty enough
Aberlour A'Bunadh batch 46 60.4%
