P/O/U/R/S Thursday 1.5.14 7.30pm The Kilderkin £TBC*
Dalmore 37yo 48.6% Cadenheads
W L Weller 12yo 45% wheated Bourbon
Imperial 1994 43% G&M sherry cask
Benriach 18yo 46% Cadenheads
something peaty - perhaps a Longrow bottled sometime ago.
Originally this tasting was to be the best from the recent Cadenheads small Batch bottlings but the only non-Bourbon cask in the program was tried last week, the only peaty dram was only 46% so perhaps a bit wanting for our final dram and the best of the remaining malts although very good were too similar - Baldnoch 21yo, Glen Grant 24yo and North British 24yo. We'll try these eventually but for next Thursday's tasting we'll try the Weller which really impressed me - thanks Glendronas. The Imperial from G&M is another great example from their stocks of the now demolished Speysider from sherry wood. My loft has quite a few Longrows from Cadenheads bottled about ten years ago which we might as well drink. I'll finalise the price when the last dram is picked but as the old Dalmore retailed at £170 I think tickets will be around £25. Don't forget the Marie Curie tasting the following Thursday.
