Looks good but is too close to the Speyside one and too awkward to get to.

Bruce I looked at the journey and you can get a same day rail ticket for £17.90 from Edinburgh and there are loads of trains. I wouldn't have thought it would be significantly worse from Falkirk (I could well be wrong though).

That's what I mean - straight train to Glasgow Queen Street from Falkirk and then straight train to Ayr from Glasgow Central. A 5-minute walk in between the two.

I usually go with a mate from Fife to these things.

Anyway, the Speyside one is the one I am concentrating on.
