I did something similar at Spirit of Speyside last year and it is excellent value. The only gripe I had was that the whiskies were too good to be racing through as quickly as we did.

I wonder what it is about dates. Weeks go by when nothing happens and then opportunities all come along at once on the same date. I have a business trip to London which will stop me seeing the Eels in Glasgow, which would have stopped me going to this...

Eels I this week, I think. The tasting is next month...or am I just not reading this right?

Ah - I never was good at months. Both on 28th - but you're right; the whisky tasting is a month later.

I'm going with a couple of friends. Willie JJ said he might, depending on the Speyside festival, I think.

Not Speyside Mark, that's not until May. I am planning to take Mrs. Willie to Islay, but happily have managed to arrange that trip for the week before so I will be coming to Glasgow. :D

She has even agreed to accompany me and make sure I get home afterwards although I suspect this is expedience as she is not fond of collecting me from Crewe in the middle of the night. It's not impossible that some others may join us too.

Ah, good stuff. Have you bought the tickets yet?

There's always the spare room at mine if anyone gets stuck/misses the train etc.

He said he would notify me when my ticket arrived at Bruntsfield, but I've not heard yet. Better give them a call I think.

Got an email today asking those who have tickets reserved to collect them as there are a few sitting around unclaimed, apparently. Did you get yours?

I enjoyed this event and it was well worth the £15 IMO. Peter Donelly from Glenfarclas was good fun and made it an enjoyable night. We had:

10 yo
15 yo
21 yo
105 10 yo
25 yo
30 yo
17 yo

I've always been a fan of the 105, but was also impressed by the 21 and the 30. 15 was great too, but the 25 was mediocre IMO.

At the end we had to help with the drams of those that hadn't turned up, dammit :D .

Thanks Chris for setting this up. Peter said they were thinking of running the event in Edinburgh so here's hoping. Practice makes perfect as they say.

My recent bottling of the 25 was quite different from the first one. The first was very nutty and different from the rest of the line. The more recent one was more in character but more vegative characteristics - green herbs and maybe a little menthol. How was the 17? I thought that wasn't available in the UK.
