I'll be attending the SMWSA Whisky Extravaganza event in Boston, MA this year. It is being held at the Taj Boston Hotel, Thursday October 16th.

I was wondering if anyone else is going, it would be nice to meet up with a forum member or two.

Ooooohh..I wonder if it'll be the new Astar!!

I've never been to one of these events, does anyone know if the Society bottles being tasted will be available for purchase at the event? Or if any of the other reps will have bottles for sale?

I don't remember there being any bottles for sale at the SMWSA event in SF last year. At WOW or WhiskyFest there is an ordersheet and a local store (D&M/K&L) to pick them up. Maybe I missed it....

I do know there is no cash and carry type thing going on for the SMWSA bottles. Run home and order those.

I am headed to the event in Philly. This was a birthday gift from my wife back in May. Thanks for the tasting list. It will be really hard to pick which ones I want to try. How is the event set up?

I'm still recovering from the show Mikey, haven't had a whisky since Thursday night.

Notes were pretty much very brief, Good, Very Good, want a bottle and Wow.

I will get my tasting list and comments up soon though.

Have fun at the Philly show. It was nice in Boston, set up in a big conference room, where you can go around from booth to booth and taste. I had the opportunity to meet with John Campbell (distillery manager at Laphroaig), so that was a nice surprise. It was very nice, both my brother and I had a great time. Don't ask me how the food was though...(although others said it was very good), we didn't have time to eat.

Definitely hit the SMWS table, they had some really nice ones available to taste.

Yeah, 2 hours doesn't seem like a ton of time to eat and drink with that many things to chose from. I will probably have some food though. Otherwise the drinks will go right to my head. Thanks again for the heads up on the tasting list.
