Anyone know what is happening at Caperdonich?

mothballed? dismantled? ....

it looks awefull
bit and pieces already have been removed I was told
and the building suposedly could collapse
not very likely it will ever run again

to bad they found out after about 30 years its excellent whisky

Ha d a brill peated Caperdonich at a Whisky Exchange tasting last year...

The building really isn't in that bad of condition (I've seen worse!), parts of the Mashtun and other pieces have been taken for the Glen Grant distillery but the stills look passable. I took a tour of it last year during the Speyside Festival, below is a link to pictures I took from within.

The french independent bottler Jean Boyer has bottled it and I think Signatory too.

was at the speyside festival last may. we were supossed to visit Caperdonich during teh 5 distilleries of Rothes tour. But that visit was cnceled due to the state of the buildings...we were told anyway

In the current Market conditions it doesn't seem likely that it will reopen and the longer it is closed the harder it is to reopen it.
