New Highland Park ???

Postby irishwhiskeychaser » Fri Jul 24, 2009 12:05 pm

Hi whisk(e)y fans,

Just came across this picture on the HP facebook page ...

No real info and I've not heard anything about it or been able to find anything about it either. Anybody here know?

"New limited edition release to be launched August 14th called "Hjata". It's a 12 year old cask strength (58.1%)."

So I've heard.

I suppose limited release + cask strength + nice fancy wooden box = triple the price

"Hjärta" is Swedish for heart. And the logo is kinda heart shaped, perhaps I'm reading to much into it. :?

According to a post made at the Norwegian Malt Whisky Society/NMWL site, the importer states it's a special botteling for the Scandinavian market - apparently a 16yo at 48,1% - and can also be bought at the Highland Park Visitor Centre.

The norwegian site mentioned NOK700 (if I understood correctly it's the importer himself), that's slightly under the price of the 18yo (NOK719). No mention of what it'll cost at the HP visitors centre.

The picture above is of a 12yo and it looks like 58.1% but the 8 may be a 3 so possibly 53.1%.

Yes the design does look like a heart ... like one of those horrible ones used on Canadian cigarette packets as warning about smoking risks :o

I still like it though ... hope it's not too expensive and available to us all ... HP cask strength is fab IMO
