Aberlour 10 1990s Bottlings

S'tan and I tried two Aberlour 10s from a case of half bottles he bought back in the late 1990s. Here are the notes on the two

Bottle #1:
Nose: Spicey, prunes, lemon
Palate: raisin, oatmeal, liquorice, prunes

Bottles #2:
Nose: sour, malty, lemon, apples
Palate: lightly smokey, oakey, leather, apples

There was also a visible difference in color.

They both sound interesting though bottle #2 sounds like it would taste better. Ganga, what was the difference in color?

One looked like a 2nd fill sherry and one looked like a fresh sherry. Can't remember which was which now. 2nd was a more enjoyable dram-I think this might have been the lighter one.
