Laphroaig's Lineup

Recall that there has been some discussion around here (including rumors) regarding the change in Laphroaig's core lineup. Last night a Laphroaig tasting was held in West LA. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend. But I did send some questions and the responses were interesting.

25 cask strength is coming to the US - I saw it a month ago.
18 is in the US - I've yet to see it around me.
10-43% is not going anywhere.

Now the last one I find interesting as it seems to have been pulled from several markets (ok, those markets usually had the 40%). No confirmation or denial of a 12 was received.

I certainly will be asking more questions should I run into any representatives for Laphroaig but I thought that some of you that love the 10 might be interested in this news.

Well Laphroaig 18 is now in at W&L Depot for $127. Don't know what to make of this considering this is more than double the price of the 15.

The worst paty is the msrp is supposed to be $90, which is reasonable but that is the same price as Macallan 18 out here.

Other parts of the world are lucky. The only Laphroaig that we get here in BC is the Quarter Cask. Now it is a good dram, but I would like to try some of these other expressions.

btw - mac 18 up here is $274 cad (or $257 usd!!!!!!!!)

Laphroaig's distributor here in "sunny" California has indicated that the 10 (43%) will be continuing on. I wonder what this means for everyone else. Are they out of luck? Or will they be getting something to replace that which isn't being brought to their region?

The first bottle of Laphroaig 18 I bought costed me € 72. Yesterday I bought a second one which costed me € 62 ($ 84.90). I suppose you'll have to wait a while for a second batch so that the price of the 18 y.o. will be more reasonable compared to the 15 y.o.
