I've never had Sazerac. Does anyone at the form have some experience with the Sazerac 18Y?

If his favorite isn't an Ardbeg, it's a Buffalo Trace. In fact, I don't think he's ever picked a number 1 that hasn't been one of those two.

I love the Saz 18. John Hansell, over at MA, thinks the most recent versions have not been as strong as the 2005 release. I've had the '05 and '06 and thought they were both great (it's the same whiskey, being held since '05 in metal tanks), but I don't think I've had '08 or '09.

I've got an opened bottle of it (Fall, 2006) and when I first tried it just really didn't "float my boat". Still haven't been able to get much into it. Maybe I'm just not a Rye guy. :wink:

He picked Jim Beam Rye rye under 10 years rye of the year I wouldn't pick it (*&%^&% of the year. You couldn't give me his book.

I've finished a bottle of Jim Beam Rye last year just to try a straight rye and recognize the rye tones better in other bourbons. Rye whiskies are not my kind of whiskies I think.

You picked the worst stuff you can buy try a WT 101 rye or a Handy or a PVWFRR 13

I can't comment on the S18 but Nova 2nd? JM's just becoming irrelevant. It's a lovely whisky but come on Jim!
