My first bottle of Glenmorangie Astar. I bought this several weeks ago right before coming down with a lengthy and nasty cold. It managed to hide away until I [re-]discovered it this afternoon. Pretty good stuff.

That reminded me i had a couple of drams a friend gave me as a sample. This Astar has a pleasant minty thing on the nose and palate. Good stuff.

As mentioned a few days ago. The Cask of the Yamazaki 1993 Heavily Peated at 62 %. And heavily peated it is!!

Longmorn 16

Just opened the bottle having only tasted this once before. Having said that I bought a bottle there and then on the strength of the tasting.

Wow - A cascade of mixed fruit on the nose. Predominently prunes? It smells sweet. More malty with a little water.

Honey sweet and sherrylike but with a magnificent hard, peppery edge and undertones of wood. Complex.

With water the peppery edge has gone but so has the fruity sweetness leaving a rounded, beautiful flavour.

A long rich lingering finish, just slightly oily but going on and on - just lovely.

A very good whisky indeed.

I haven't tried the 15 and many here believe it to be better. It must be a classic.
