Yes. Better than the standard 12 or 18, but can't say where it stands in comparison to the Solera. Close. I think it's similar to Glenlivet with more bitter apple peel. Pretty sure I rated it a 3.5/5 as a first impression.

All were very good, but not the Glen Grant which was annoyingly disappointing. The High West is a new entry onto my favourites list.

Uigeadail bottled 2010. I was actually expecting to like this more than I have experienced so far. After a Laga Distiller's Edition and now the Oogie, I'm starting to think that sherry is not my favourite. It is a lovely whisky, but I find the sweetness perhaps distracting or unnecessary. I do like it better than the Laga, though, and will certainly finish the bottle with relish.

Smith's Angaston 8yo. Really good stuff! Would like to see this 8yo and their cask strength 10yo get a little more recognition beyond Australia, but the quantities released were so relatively small (especially for the 10yo). :-\

There's a similarity to Port Ellen in this. Lovely nose, maybe a little lacking in complexity; but full, farmy/buttery and billowing.

J&AM Springbank 12 yo CS 54.4% Claret Wood. Colour is almost amber; Nose has floral and honeyed notes; Definitely full bodies with legs like a young colt; The Palate echoes the honey notes in the nose, with an added spiciness; Finish is warming and spicy as well as long and lingering on the tongue.

According to the label, 9 yrs in a refill bourbon cask followed by 3 in fresh Claret casks. Reminds me of tales I've heard about Queen Victoria - who would have loved this. She used to mix whisky and Claret, thereby ruining two great drinks at once! Maybe she was on to something after all!

Oh my, very special indeed. It's made the rest of my collection seem rather poor and bland!

Great peatiness and incredibly drinkable.
