Would the Spey qualify for the Basics Willie? I'm interested to here what you have to say on this one either way.

Many of the F&F bottles are selling for prices that are now comparable with the RRPs of standard drams. I recently saw Caol Ila 12yo with a £4 discount (supposedly) for the same price that I paid for the Glen Spey. On those grounds it would qualify as entry level. Whisky prices have gone mad. :insane:

We also were looking to keep things towards the younger end and away from cask strength.

I'm very fond of a 50/50 mix of OP12 and Caol Ila CS. The salt and maritime notes of the OP and the industrial coal smoke of the Caol Ila work wonders together.

Shouldn't that be in the recent bottle kills thread? :P But I understand why those go so quickly.

Battlhill Jura 11. While I can't say this is great whisky I will say that it is one of the more enjoyable Juras I've had. I would much rather have a dram of this than the OB offerings I've tried. I've posted notes over in the Live Tastings.

Whoops, forgot about the Battlehill Bowmore 8 as well. Again, notes in the Live Tastings. I would say this has many similarities to the younger OB bottlings but the floral character is different in this bottling.

Jameson Gold Reserve. Probably my favorite of the range. Perhaps the Irish of choice going forward, though it's a bit pricey.
