My bottles opened over the long weekend include Bowmore 17, Glenfarclas 11, and Arran Chateau Margaux.

How's that going down Matthew? I recently opened a bottle of the 18yo Glenlivet that had been sitting on a shelf for years. I've spent a couple of really good evenings with it. It won't survive a third I don't think. Great stuff and fantastic value.

It is going down an absolute treat, it will definitely not last long! I got a miniature of the 18 a while back, may have to do a head to head

I would second this and add that I don't find a whole lot of difference between the TC and Teacher's - and actually prefer the Teacher's!

The Dalmore 12yo at 40% vol. My first Dalmore ever, well my second actually. I had a sample of the Gran Reserva two weeks ago, which was not very impressive. This one is a bit better. From the moment I opened the bottle I picked up caramel. I wonder why ... It reminded me of a Glenrothes, only I found Glenrothes very drinkable. This is what I think of The Dalmore 12yo.

Nose:
big caramel, fruitiness, very faint smokeyness and a touch of cake.

Palate:
again caramel, marzipan, fruit (oranges?), and a bit more smoke yet it's still sweet.

Finish:
short, gone without a trace I'm afraid.

Comments:
Not much to be exited about I think. It's an OK dram. Nothing more, nothing less.
