I say open it. though I always say open it, so maybe I am not the best advice giver. For the record I have not had it.

That would be a great time to open it. I think it is great to have special bottes to open when the baby is born. Nice to share with everyone.

No I have not. If you are looking for a rating you could try Serge over at Whiskyfun.com He tried a version from 1999 and gave it an 84. I have had the recent version bottled in 07 or 08 (can't remember right now) and I rated it in the mid 80's as well (posted notes in the what are you drinking now thread). Sorry I couldn't help more.

I agree with Sean, OPEN IT. :D I also agree that it would be nice to have an occasion for it. May sounds like the perfect opportunity.

The Glenlivet 21 I adore is the one in a black bottle and a "leather" suitcase. It is much better than the standard archive.

I also recommend to open it.
I didn't drink this particular expression so far but there are wonderful oloroso matured Bunnahabhains from the 76 vintage.
In my opinion this bottle has not a big potential to increase its worth, as Bunnahabhain is mabe the least known and hyped of the Islay distilleries and this one is from an independent bottler not even an OB.
So what's the matter in collecting it?
If it's really good, you can still buy another one to collect it. :D

If you don't open it then it is just an ornament and your wife probably has enough of those already. I say open it, but do that when you are in the mood for it. It would have been an expensive bottle so take your time and enjoy it.

If the bunny is one of your better bottles I'd save it for when your child is born. My bottle of Springbank 16 rum wood is my most expensive bottle (a lot less than your bunny) and I'm saving that for when our child is born or when I turn 35, whichever comes first. Or try it now, and have an excuse to buy another nice bottle for when the wee one arrives. :D
