Western Isles Whisky goes on sale

Postby Onefortheditch » Wed Feb 24, 2010 8:12 am

On the Scottish news last night, it said the Western Isles distillery Abhainn Dearg (garlic for red river) started to sell its whisky. The owner Mark Tayburn said the distillery used the best water. (They certainly have plenty water over there!!)

I've been at the distillery and its in a beautiful remote location.

Good luck to it and I looking forward to trying a dram.

GARLIC?! :P

Is this the equivalent of the first releases of Kilchoman, that is, new make or spirit under 3 years of age?

Good evening Ganga.

Garlic is an ancient Scots language.

Its new make. The single malt Scots whisky goes on sale next year.

According to the Press & Journal newspaper today, they plan to produce 10,000 bottles a year.

And I think he's called Marko Tayburn as opposed to Mark Tayburn, but he definitely has a Lewis accent.
