Limited edition bottle of whisky

Postby sherrardk » Wed Mar 17, 2010 10:13 pm

Hi, I am new on here and hope this is the right place for this. We have a limited edition bottle of whisky which we aren't going to drink but might be interested in selling. Where would I find out if it is worth doing this and how I would go about it? Thanks

Hi sherrardk and welcome to the forum

You need to provide more information about whisky you wish to sell and preferably with photographs.

I'm sorry to say, but you can not sell whisky on this web site. We can however try to point you in the right direction depending upon your location.

Cheers John

Thanks for that. There is big bottle and a little tiny bottle in a 'posh' box. There is a certificate which contains, amongst other stuff, the following information 'Penderyn Single Malt Whisky, The Oloroso Edition, To celebrate the first anniversary of the launch of Welsh Single Malt Whisky, Bottle Numer 334 of a limited edition of 1000 bottles, Released at 50% vol to be fully appreciated and enjoyed' and it is signed by Brian Morgan, Chairman, The Welsh Whisky Company.

Bottled in 2005, and the Whisky Exchange sold the last of their stock for a touch over £100.

There's a site in Poland that appears to still be selling them for the equivalent of £200.

Unless you really love sherried welsh whisky (an acquired taste), I'd flog it, and use the proceeds to buy a couple of bottles of something you know you'll enjoy. You could try asking at Whisky Exchange, or flogging on eBay (subject to their terms), or one of the the many whisky auction specialists. Expect it to sell for less than the retail prices quoted above though!

Personally I'm not a huge fan of Penderyn, and am getting a bit bored with ex-oloroso cask finishes! I also resent limited editions where more money has been spent on the bottle / packaging than the liquid inside!

YMMV - Rufus.
