There is a documentary on BBC1 Scotland today (17.05-17.35) about the Cheapside tragedy when a whisky bond caught fire killing a number of people. I don't know if it is on the national network, but if you can't get it on the box I presume it will be available on the web later.

A decent sized article about this in our local paper. A St. Annes fireman, Alfred Dickinson, married a Glasgow girl and joined the brigade up there. He was on duty on the night and became one of the 19 casualties.

It was interesting. Not a huge amount of whisky content, but the stories of casks rolling from the building and exploding into flames brings a tear to the whisky fan's eye.

More seriously 19 (mostly firemen) were killed in the blaze and the programme talks about the lack of safety regulations and training at that time.
