Ledaig no age statement

A while ago i bought a bottle of Ledaig from Morrisons.

There is no age statement on the bottle and the ABV is 42%

It was cheap, about £15.00 and is very light straw in colour.

I have tried it a couple of times and find it a very strange tasting whisky.

Not to my taste.

Has anyone else tried this whisky?

Only tasted an older version (20 YO) which was very good.
Quality of Ledaig/Tobermory tends to increase but quality is unfortunately rather unequal.

Yesterday, I tasted the Ledaig 8yo of Kintra Single Cask (50%), heavily peated. Haven't tasted a Ledaig before. This one was nice, but not superb. Maybe too peaty (only peat...)

Ledaig is the peated variant of Tobermory.

Patrick, I found the 20yo a bit weird but it was an older one, so maybe it's changed?

The one that I tried was the 20 Yo bottled in 1996. It was very good, as well several Tobermory/Ledaig from the same period (e.g., Sestante 14 YO or the 22 YO from James McArthur). Nowdays, there are a few good Ledaig (e.g., Cadenhead) but I would recommend to taste them before

I went on a camping trip a few months back and a friend brought along a bottle of the Ledaig NAS. It was light and dry, with chocolate and lightly burnt toast (sorry I'm not so good at the tasting notes).

I can't say it was incredible, but passing it round the fire on a windy night we had no complaints and it did it's job perfectly. Pleasantly surprised, because I think it comes in for a bit of stick.
