whisky scottish destinations help!

I am organising my whisky themed 40th party weeked. We did Islay last year for my brothers. although a repeat experience would be nice, somewhere different would be good.

Considering going to speyside - Dufftown. Group of about 10-15. but how easy is it to get to.

From london - plane to??? ... then bus?? then train???
From Manchester plane to??? ... then bus?? then train???

or can anyone suggest better?

At a bit of a loss and in need of help.

Hi ikendal

The quickest way is to fly to Inverness from London Gatwick or Luton; there are also scheduled air services from Manchester. From Inverness, take the train or bus to Keith, there is a good regular service which runs between Inverness and Aberdeen which stops at Keith, from here your best bet is a taxi to Dufftown. There is a bus which runs between Keith and Dufftown but only once a day on Tuesdays only. There is also car hire from Inverness airport.

If your going public transportation (my preferred way of travel in the UK) I'd take the train to Glasgow and then on to Elgin (via Inverness is probably the quickest route). From Elgin take the bus (excellent service!) to Dufftown. I've done this very same route several times.

If you have time while in Elgin the Gordon & MacPhail shop is about 3 blocks from the bus station.
