This weekend the Japan Times ran a story on Rita Taketsuru - the Glasgow-born woman who brought the water of life to the land of the rising sun...
In 1920, Rita followed her husband (Masataka - the founder of Nikka Whisky) halfway around the world. She suffered persecution by the secret police in WW2 but she never returned to Scotland - and she's buried overlooking the distillery.
