Most Missed Dram - Within Last 10 Years

Hello all.

I am curious what your most missed drams are (i.e. those that you love/d but are no longer in production) within the last 10 years or so.

For me, I really miss the Glenmorangie 12 Burgundy Wood - I was really sad that Glenmo didn't transfer this one over to the new line. Any thoughts?

The profiles of many of the distilleries have changed so much over the last 10-15 years and the prices have skyrocketed.

I miss all the Cadenhead bottlings that used to come in (think 2002 was the last year they made it into US). And young bottlings of PE as we'll never see any of these at an affordable price (collector's market only now). The Springbank stubby bottlings (red/gray parchment) and the original 21. The tall clear glass Glenfarclas 25. Dumpy Signatory bottlings.

If we want to go with things that have just disappeared as opposed to changes in the character well here's some. I miss the Lochnagar 12 (at least in the US). The Aberlour 10, 18, and 21. The old Linkwood 12 that came in the hexagonal box.

I, too, miss the Royal Lochnagar 12. Weird that it's no longer here, as we have no shortage of other Diageos coming our way.

I miss the tall-bottled Aberlour 15 - I liked that better than the current 12, and even the 16. I bought a bottle of the 18 out of the UK - way too heavy on the sherry for me, although I suppose a decent aperitif. Is it possible I heard the 18 was headed to the US?

For sentimental reasons, Port Ellen 16yo 1980 Signatory Cask Strength. A memorable dram that I polished off the night before I left for my first visit to Scotland in the Spring of '01 as a toast. What a dram!

Port Ellen for me as well, in this case, the First annual release. Second is the old presentation of Edradour in the white tube with the enclosed map, which was far superior to the present offering, in my humble opinion.

If I had to pick one bottling it would probably be that one. The one from the 1990s that is.

Since I haven't had many of the wonderful drams mentioned (springbank, Brora, and Port Ellen), I will go with Laphroaig 15. A very fine dram at a reasonable price.
I also miss the HP 12 and 18 in the dumpy bottles.

What do I especially miss from a decade or so ago?

Aberlour a'bunadh Batch No. 6. The best one I've tasted.

The first issues of Bruichladdich 10, 15 and 17 Year Old from the early Jim McEwan era. They were just so unemcumbered (by cask finishing) and clean and crisp and delicious.

Lagavulins distilled from the late 1970s through the early 1980s, an era when the distillery briefly experimented with 50ppm peat-reeked malt. In my view, the 1980 Distillers Edition (bottled in 2000!) was very impressive. But many of the 16 Year Old releases from that time were also excellent, and they would put many a contemporary version of the 16YO to shame.

Longmorn 15 Year Old from the Seagram / early Pernod Ricard era. Not only was the whisky really good. The price was fair!

Scapa 12 Year Old. It's my feeling that this one captured that inimitable combination of delicacy, clarity and palate penetration far better than the 14 Year Old that succeeded it. Haven't tried the inordinately expensive 16 Year Old as yet.

Any of a number of Cadenhead Authentic Collection Natural Cask Strength bottlings from closed distillery sites, including Glen Mhor, Glenugie and Rosebank.

I like the Scapa 16. However, it could really do with being at a stronger strength. I do miss the 12 but no so much the 14. I stashed a 12 and 14.

For me the Springbank 35 I know I know, it is still available the problem is for me now... I can't afford it
