Pizza also. Four cheese pizza washed down with some Secret Stills Bowmore. I did not assess whether they complimented each other. I just drank and ate. :D

I normally do a few drams by themselves, on occasion I'll have some salted peanuts... :D 8)

Pepperoni pizza and Black Eagle bourbon. Pizza cuts much of the sweet character bringing out some rough graininess.

I eat nothing at all... :smoke: sometimes I'll enjoy a good Fuente maduro ( Opus X ), with some of my favorite drams of Glenlivet, Dalmore, Glenmorangie, and Balvenie. On few occasions I'll break out some of my favorite blends and have them neat, just like I have my malts, neat. NO MORE...NO LESS... 8) :D :smoke:

Grilled pork chops and Dalmore 12 (2009). Pork chops bring back some of the bourb character and mute some of the sherry character. Good but not great combo.

grilled onions and garlic with KSB 7 yo. Really provides a contrast as the onions/garlic drift towards sweet notes which brings the coarseness of this bourbon to the fore.

I was eating haggis yesterday at the fest. I really wanted to break out my flask of Talisker, but I was kinda on the go, and didn't have enough hands free.

Tacos with Ancient Age. The salt in the meat really brings out the spice in the bourbon. Usually this whiskey is soft.

Stuffed pork chops

Stuffing:

Anaheim pepper
sweet onion
garlic cloves

Samuel Grant Bourbon

I will say the pork chops are very tasty. The Bourbon very sweet. Rye comes out following a taste of the pork chops.

Grilled mangoes and OP 12. OP really brings out the sweet nature of the mango. My suggestion is sip the whisky then hit the mango.

Cheese, and more cheese. Not because i believe in the whisky-cheese pairing, i don't. But the fridge is full of cheese. Finished the Snøfrisk goat's cheese and I massacred the St Agur. Washed it down with Bladnoch 9yo.

I can't say that I've tried whisky and cheese (and remember it). I have some very good experience with some foods like chocolate and seafood. How do you feel about other types of pairings besides cheese?

I'm a barbarian and put little effort into such things. I eat when i'm hungry, and drink whisky when i'm thirsty. Occasionally the two collide. :smoke:

Roasted almonds or hazelnuts. Sometimes I light a cigar with my whisky, and sometimes I just enjoy it with ice.

Chicken & veg curry and Glenlivet 12yo. Not a wonderful combination, but I got some 'livet minis on the plane.

Cod and kale, with roasted cherry toms, onion, and olives. Served with a homemade turnip and red cabbage 'slaw and Miltonduff 14 CSE. They didn't go well together but i didn't let it bother me.

Dinner? Steak

After? Chocolate. I prefer smooth milk chocolate as (I feel) it enhances the mellow flavors of the whisky. Some like bitter dark chocolate as sometimes it will make the whisky taste sweeter. To me dark chocolate makes the whisky taste bitter/muddier.

I like the milk chocolate with sherry influenced whiskies. However, the bitter (dark) chocolate works very well going with peat, especially Laphroaig.
