Freshmen is one of the seminal songs of my generation. Reminds me of high school. Actually reminds me of my freshmen year of high school and my group of friends that played poker and drank together.

Tool - Aenima

Bredman, I saw Manu Chao play the Roskilde Festival in Denmark in 2000, great energetic show.

Sean, I love that Verve Pipe song, too bad the rest of the album is fairly meh.

My ultimate whisky-drinking music (especially for late at night) is a German group called Bohren & der Club of Gore. Very dark atmospheric jazz music, definitely a "film noir" feel to it. Have a listen! - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcDfVsQ-qhY (audio only, no video)

Wish I had a big leather armchair and a cigar humidor to accompany the mood. :smoke:

Threw in some Nickelback while cooking. I thought "Burn it to the ground" was perfect for this occasion.

Ok, I'm still drammin' away. I've progressed a bit down the road. And no this isn't the whisky talkin'. How come the older music is recorded so much better? It isn't just a matter of being better music. Rather the "sound" is better. I just finished listening to Fever (Presley version) and now onto Tales of Mystery and Imagination (Alan Parsons). The sound is just incredible.

How seductive is Christina? I'm listening in my cave and it is like she is just talking to me. Then again it may be the whisky.

We've had enough to drink so no bad puns. Moved to Duran Duran. Not that it is great music but it is HS memories.

Awesome album.

Saw them in concert last summer - the previous time I had seen them was back in 2001 for the Lateralus Tour and then prior to that in the early 1990s! The show's have changed a bit (i.e. bigger budgets compared to the first shows!), but still as awesomely weird, eclectic and engrossing as ever!

Like you remember the 80s. :P After going through some odds and ends, I settled on Genesis Genesis. This with the Yoichi.

Tool is my favorite band, and Lateralus is my top album - by anyone, ever. I caught (part of - long story) their show at Roskilde in 2000, and had seen them at Lollapalooza in 1994 ('93? Wiki is as accurate as my memory of those days, which is to say, not). Can't wait for what's next from Maynard & crew, I'll be sure not to miss the next tour.

Currently listening to Pearl Jam - No Code, with a glass of Grant's Family Reserve.

Desire would be a near perfect album without Hurricane and Joey. As it is it's damn good, I just can't get into those two (endless) songs. Personal taste and all that... :P

Ha ha - too funny! I'm a huge Pearl Jam fan and have seen them in concert about half a dozen times. The best - by far - was when we saw then at the end of the Binaural tour (IIRC...) in late 2000 I think. It was the final show of their tour, we drove to Seattle to see them at Key arena and they had the Red Hot Chili Peppers open for them (actually the Chilis were the 2nd opening band!). Pearl jam played something like three and 3/4 hours and the concert (again, I'm remembering) went to about 1am. We had fantastic seats as well - 6th row center stage: there were no rows 1 through 5 - just the floor crowd beneath us. Might still to this day be the best concert that I've been to, but this year's Tool concert was pretty awesome (dual drum kit on stage was amazing) as was the Roger Waters concert a few months ago (and the first reunion concert of Alice in Chains just over a year ago was pretty awesome as well!)...

Ok - have to stop - so many good shows!!!

Ps: yes - totally hear you on the Lollapalooza dates - and Wikipedia's accuracy!

Oh - should add: I've always felt that No Code never got its dues. Absolutely awesome album but perhaps still shadowed by Ten and Vitology (in the same way that Vs. kind of never emerged from Ten's shadow)... Actually, even if it's not my favourite from PJ, Ten kind of shadows everything they've done!
