Scrubbing the Forums?

It looks to me like a couple of more recent posts have been deleted from less active forums. I seem to recall that there was some activity since Rob posted the news on the Schackleton Whisky on 4/21. Also, I thought there had been some chatter about whisky books since February. Or is this just me with faulty memory?

I don't recall much as regards the books, but I think the chatter on the Shackleton page was all spam.

There has been some scrubbing, last month my other account including posts (near 1000) were fully deleted during the spam cleanup, as it was considered spam (but it was admitted this was done in error and they were looking if they could reinstate them). Maybe topics that were rendered unreadable have been removed? While not removed viewtopic.php?t=11414 is an example of a "mutilated" topic.

Since Rob's name is in bold, it kind of stands out. When I came on yesterday, I thought there was some new news.

BTW, my error. It wasn't Shackleton (that's in his blog) but rather the glencairn post. Still my recollection was that someone had posted to one of the news articles following April 21.

I don't think anyone would notice in other more active forums as they can enough activity to almost immediately obscure something like that.

I think it has been selective. It seemed like a few posts were deleted back in May. Not sure what happened with Nick. Two things come to mind: malicious behaviour and a complaint (recall that Nick had informed an individual about selling wears on the site). Otherwise it is some strange thing in which an individual was wiped out. I remember Matt saying that there are backups so hopefully, Nick will be restored.

I can't imagine that Nick would do or say something to harm anyone or the forum. So I hope along with you that he will be restored. If not, it will only make more members switch forums and that would be a shame.

I've told you before, Rich. If that handfull loyal members who make the effort of frequently posting messages would stop doing so, this form would be braindead. Wouldn't that be a shame?

No! This makes no sense. Even he-who-shall-not-be-named banished folks the posts didn't disappear; the individuals appeared as deactivated. Here's to hoping Rob et al can restore Nick et al.

My current opinion is that this is a simple error Ganga.
I believe Rob will be able to recover it.

BTW, it's looking less likely to me that my posts can be recovered. Apparently when you delete a member, as well as confirming it's OK to do (to which someone obviously clicked Yes) there is also an option to remove all their posts (which was also obviously replied to affirmatively).
If you choose that option, which seems to be what has happened, you don't end up with a "Deactivated member", but just all trace disappears, with all posts.
they are unrecoverable, except from a backup - and if you restored a backup you would lose all posts since the backup.

So the longer it goes on, the less likely I will be reinstated because more and more of the recent posts would be lost in the process.

Nick I'm sorry to hear of your situation after all the work you've put in it's a real shame. Do you remember some years ago you were waiting to congratulate me on reaching 5000 posts. Well I'm slowly getting back to it again.
