Lots of peated whiskies, Ardbegs and finsihed off with a Laphroaig 15yo. The Ardbegs were the 16yo Beist, Blasda (which I like) and the Ardbeg. Feel asleep on the couch. There may have been a SMWS Balmenach in there some where too.

I had to take one of the kids to a basketball game, so I thought I'd take advantage of my 'down time' and swing by our local cigar/martini bar, 15C. This is where I had my first Laphroaig 10, and as I recall I didn't much care for it. Tasted too 'soapy' IMO.

Well, last night I ordered another one (a double, just to make certain ) and I'll be damned if it wasn't phenomenal. So I don't know if my first one was a bad batch or if my palate has improved, but I take back all the bad things I ever thought about this dram.

Of course, lighting up a cigar to go along with it wasn't the smartest choice; the Toraño I had pretty much overpowered the smoke in the Lappy. Probably should have had a martini. . .

Well they didn't put him on me bottle to be ignored It's light and simple and floral, like a summer picnic - posies of flowers, honey, a little white bread, shared bags of boiled sweets like pear drops and some fruit salad. Sometimes marketing works very well for me and even though I know the silvery angel on a cloud is gimmick, I buy. It's not the most memorable dram, but that's fine

Duncan Taylor 27 yr old Brora - one of the most exceptional whiskies i have had in a long time - LFW has a few more left and well worth the spend - i am heading back up to get a keeper tomorrow - floral and light and lasting - exceptional!

Love shovel is a good drink but no real depth - had a bottle and i don't remember savouring it that much - pleasant but not that memorable - though good price and catchy name - Oddbins still have plenty left

Some Crown Royal and Drambuie last night. Nothing exceptional for the CR. The rye and corn standout but I wish it had more character. The Drambuie is ultra sweet and very herbal-licorice.

I had an Oban DE. It was the first time I'd had it and I was blown away. Fantastic.

Oh, I had a Laphroaig QC and a Dalmore 12 too, also very nice.

I read through your notes. (no need to look up terms) Gives me hope for 3 to 8 years down the road. It didn't seem like you had any problems with it being merely a 7 yo either.
