Talisker 10. It was good, but I don't think that was what I was in the "mood" for. I was probably too tired to have enjoyed the experience. I know it sounds like blasphemy but I am a "mood" drinker.

Sorry, Mr.F, they were all out of it. :(

:) No problem Swedish Chef, if I manage to get one first I'll let you know what I think about it.

I had a great time and a couple of good whiskies at the tasting yesterday  After the tasting I also had a couple of Dupont Natural 1994 Vintage Calvados. If you like dry french sider then this is a massive hit - satisfaction guaranteed!

Yesterday I had a few drams of Caol Ila 12yo and more Sam Adams Boston Ale. And red wine at dinner.

Last night's Christmas party focused on wines. Yellowtail Chardonnay, Windsor Chardonnay, Justin Cabernet Sauvignon, and Clos du Val Cabernet Sauvignon.

I went with Redbreast 12. I haven't had it in a while for some reason. I guess I was in a SMS kick. Not that it's a bad thing.

A Cosmopolitan, a little Merlot and then I went to the Malt Shovel in Edinburgh for some jazz and Glenlivet Nadurra. I like it there and they have a good range of whiskies. I was quite surprised to be offered ice in the Nadurra.

The trivia bar I was at last night only serves "pre-whisky". One Sam Adams and one Fosters.

Last night I opened the bottle of William Larue Weller Bourbon I had. Initial impression is WOW. Extremely smooth, especially for the proof (62.65%). Nice sweetness on the nose with sugar and vanilla. On the palate it starts really smooth, then the sugary flavors of vanilla and sweet spice develop, and it leaves a nice sweet, drying finish. Very good IMO.

I'll do a more detailed note on this next time around, but I was really impressed!

Earl Grey with a piece of cinnamon bark in the pot. A friend of mine introduced me to this which he calls "Lebanese Tea" - which was a common way to drink tea in Lebanon while he served with the UN forces. It's good - but not "whisky good" of course
