Last night i opened a Rosebank 14 yo "High Spirits Collection", a very good light body style. The label is wrong: distilled in May 1988 and bottled in November 2003 (they are more than 15 years), but I don't know what is the mistake.

I wonder what Laga 1 yo would be like. Would the peatiness overpower everything? Would the sweetness of new make still be present? Intriguing.

Just a bottle of Innis & Gunn last night, was far too tired for anything else :(

No mistake Luca: May 1988 to November 2003 is 15.5 years, so the whisky is simply described as a 15 year old.

Oh, sorry Luca, misread your post - thought you'd said 15, not 14

In that case yes, there is a mistake on the label.

Black Bottle NAS to start out (I forgot how good it was!) then I finally cracked open my bottle of Caol Ila 12. This stuff is excellent and I am looking forward to more of it soon.

Tonight I tasted a Ardbeg 10 Years Old from a friend of mine. I liked the as I called it "wood" taste. Later it turned out to be the peat in the whisky. He suggested me this Ardbeg had a lot more stronger peat taste.

I was really surprised by the intense peat taste. One hour later I still had this smokey taste in my mouth. For my first single malt dram not a bad choice :)

Of course something special for xmas :D
A Port Ellen 8th Release. It's a good PE but a little shy if you ask me.
Oh yes, after that I had a bottle of Bordeaux with my girlfriend.

Appleton Estate Extra (12yo) - fantastic as always. So glad this became available in Tralfamadore.I thought I would never taste it again after I finished my bottle from Prague. Big thanks to Whiskyviking who told me about it.

I used to like Rum years ago, but can't find one I can settle on anymore. I can get the Appleton Estate Extra very reasonable and wondered how it compared to say a Ron Matusalem Grand Reserve? That's the only one I've had fairly recently, I still keep it around, but it's not something i enjoy sipping on, I'm kind of saving it for mixers.

Jimmi, I'm afraid I haven't tried the Ron Matusalem Gran Reserva - it's one I'm definately going to taste someday though as I've heard it's a splendid rum. I think it's a cuban style rum although it's not made there anymore and they apply some sort of solera system I think?
I think one can expect the Appleton Estate to pack a punch compared to the lighter cuban style.
Dave Broom calls it the Islay drinkers rum. A love it or hate it rum. I love it!
