I enjoyed a few nice drams last night. :D

Auchentoshan Select This is a very nice malt, plus it can be had for only $23, how can you go wrong!

Longmorn 16 I'd have to say I'm not overly impressed by this one. It's just OK IMO. I'd much prefer the 15yo, especially for the price! It seems they spent more on the packaging here than anything else!

Glenmorangie 13yo SMWS 125.15 I like this stuff, much much better than the OB bottlings for me.

Bruichladdich 15yo 2nd Ed. I've tried this before, but only had sample. This is a newly opened bottle and I really like it. This is the sauterness finish, and it goes really well.

Glenfiddich 21yo Nice dram, sweet and smooth, a good Fiddich.

Ardbeg 10yo I almost always finish the night with Ardbeg, why not!

I bought a bottle of Glenmorangie Lasanta and The Balvenie 12yo DoubleWood. I have no restraint so I had to try them both.

I can't say anything about The Balvenie DW that hasn't been said. That is a great whisky.

The Lasanta a bit different as you all may know. I liked the sherry influence. Nice long finish. I enjoyed the experience. Looking forward to trying their Quinta Ruban.

Cheers,

Mac

It sounds like you had a good time Mikey...ending with the Stagg...ouch!

We had these last night.

Longmorn 15 OB
Macallan 12 OB
Booker's Bourbon
Cragganmore 12 OB
Caol Ila Natural Cask Strength OB

Alot of beer was mixed in when we hit the bars...between the Cragganmore and the nightcap of Caol Ila.

Good night and a safe cab ride home.

Macallan 12yo 'Sherry' (40%). Nothing special here, but I think it is still better than the economical FO. Followed by more of the W&M Macallan 1989-2006 'Marsala Finish' (46%). Have been pleasantly surprised by this one and will be buying another bottle for the drinking stock.

On New Year's Eve:
Port Ellen, Old Malt Cask, 1982, 25 years old, Sherry butt.
No additional fireworks needed at New Year Eve with this one in a glass.
More please. A fantastic whisky.

Had some Johnnie Walker Blue. It was very fine. Pity it is so expensive. Followed it with some JWBlack, the black paled in comparison and seemed to taste poorer than it actually is. My cousin who was pouring should have started with the Black and then we could work our way up to the Blue.

Macallan 12. Very good last night. About a week or so ago i posted that i found it rather simple. Didnt get that observation last night. complexity was there. sometimes i think taste experience is coloured by what i ate previously and my mood.

I feel the same about Macallan 12yo. Sometimes it's just average and then some days I find a little more to it. I don't have it right now but it stays on sale around here so I should get back to it soon.

Last night I opened the new George T Stagg '08, such a powerhouse that I think beats all the other releases since the Spring '05 version.
