Oh the 2004, 6 year old Gordon and MacPhail Binnys collection one, cask 306445.
How is it you ask?
In one word Sharp.
Nose is very promising, subtle ash, and not as oily and marine as I remember the only other Caol Ila I had.
Taste is sharp, probably a lot of new make, with a good bit of ash flavors. I am sure there are fruits in their, but wow, so much black pepper, and alcohol burn they are well hidden... I think I can identify overly acidic pineapple, and extremely sour apples.
Finish though is surprizingly lackluster.
Lets see if some water helps it out...
Nose is similar, taste is similar, but diluted to the point that many more flavors come out, and it is far more interesting.
It actually has some flavors on the finish, and its rather long lasting now.
This is one to have with water Vic.
