Ri (1) Straight Rye Whiskey, 46% ABV

Hmm...has anyone else tried this? I'm not quite sure what to think of it. It's a solid offering, adequate spice (with a somewhat disturbing nose of bubblegum- you can't make this stuff up...), and a remarkably clean finish.

So far, so good...

$50 as the price tag? Not THAT good. The packaging has the kind of po-mo appeal to it that I suppose some people go for; industrial and quirky, but I wonder if I ended up paying a bit more for hype than quality.

I've had it and have no problems with your descriptions. I find bubblegum (bazooka to hubba bubba) in several bourbons. I don't recall coming up with anything like that in any rye. Maybe I'll have to try it again.

My nephew has gotten into craft brews and is beginning his exploration. So I got him a mixed bag and a Lost Abbey Gift of the Magi for myself. :D

Store was doing a clearance on McGavin's. I picked up the Islay NAS. I believe it to be a young Bowmore.

Four new soldiers to replace the 3 recently deceased, and he who is about to die. I realised I need to restock my selection with lower priced whisky so my good bottles last longer, as they really got burned up quickly recently.

All are 12 years old, and bottled at 43%.

I love all the extra gift packs that come out around the Holidays.

Today I picked up:

Macallan 12 ( with a free sampler of the 18).
Aberlour Abunadh batch 42 60.3%
90-21 SV Mortlach cask 6073 Sherry Butt 52.8% ( If I am reading the date right its really 9 days from being 22 years old) Binnys Beverage Depot.

And Just to spite Donald Trump: Glenfiddich 12 with a nosing glass and "whisky notebook."

I'd like to see a review of this. I'm thinking that we need to revive the Trader Joe's thread and start a Kirkland thread to keep track of the hits and misses.

Oh as it fit in sort of with the December tasting thread, I posted notes there. I should have cross linked them.
