Have you had a different releases of Cairdeas? I see in the photo that it is the 2012 release. If you've tried others is it consistent or is there something that makes one better than another?

Have you had different releases of Cairdeas?

First one for me, Ganga, so I'm unable to comment on differences, variability of quality, etc.

I do know the 2012 release clocks in at a slightly lower ABV level than some earlier ones, but that's likely not a major flavour factor in the greater scheme of things.

What particularly strikes me concerning the 2012 version is how drinkable it is!

Lovely balance of soft-centered malt sweetness (probably due to the significant percentage of quarter-casked whiskies used in the blend) and typical Laphroaig maritime characteristics. No over-the-top Islay intensity, yet still enough of those kelp and smoke traits to keep one interested. Just a lovely pour.

May need to nab more.
