Very nice Mikey. How is it?

My local brew is Heretic Evil Twin (in honor of Ganga). It is sort of up near you. This beer is pretty good if you like hoppy reds.

It is okay - nothing to write home about - little too much burnt caramel notes.

They have another (IPA - like everyone) - may give it a try.. But there are other things to explore.

Cheers,
Mikey

I had some misgivings prior to opening it, largely owing to Jim Murray's commentary concerning it containing "more than the odd dud sherry butt". (And don't we know about JM's ultra sensitivity to and raging against tainted - i.e. 'contaminated' with sulphur - Sherry oak.)

Truth be told, I did initially notice a very slight and uncharacteristic sharpness, which one might interpret as beyond the normal a'bunadh high-alcohol 'snap'. But from that point on, the contents of the bottle have revealed a sweet richness that's spot-on.

Balvenie 14 Year Old Caribbean Cask... A very appealing meld of honey and spice with some added fruit and crispness from the rum cask finishing.

Hangar 24 Hammerhead (a Barleywine style beer aged for 6 months in bourbon and rye whiskey barrels). Just amazing. If you get a chance to try, do it.

Now some Rogue Brutal IPA. A very good IPA but it is by no means brutal.
