I am not sure if this is good or bad for the whisky lover but Suntory is in the process of purchasing Jim Beam.

Yeah it will put them as one of the top companies in the spirit world... along with Diageo and Pernod-Ricard (etc..)

I couldn't grumble about the way they handled Morrison Bowmore, so I'm hopeful.

Agreed. They make very fine whisky in Japan.

Agree. It's fascinating to conjecture how all this will alter the Islay whisky scene. Clearly, Suntory (with Bowmore and Laphroaig) will be a more 'muscular' presence on the island vis-a-vis Diageo (Caol Ila and Lagavulin).
